After one of my friends saw the backpack pictured, she asked with a hint of bewilderment, "So you're going to fill it...put it on your back...and leave?" I nodded. Along with a little carry-on for my laptop, this is it - a backpack just big enough for the bare essentials (and a small friend). I will be packing less clothes for the following 10 months than I did for my recent 4-day trip to Boston...weird.
