Full Moona in Unawatuna
Our first day in Unawatuna
They told us there’d be a full moona –
A special day in the calendar luna.
Here they call the day poya.
And everybody, girl or boya,
Goes to temple filled with joya.
(It was also a special day
For my brother far away,
Twenty years – partaaay!)
We woke up and took it easy,
On a beach sunny and breezy,
For I had been a tad bit sneezy.
Palm trees swaying in the skies,
Clear blue water in your eyes,
And a dagoba (surprise, surprise).
As I walked to who knows where,
I saw three local guys quite near
Jugglin’ a soccer ball in the air.
As I passed them on the shore
They said they’d love to have one more,
So I made the circle four.
One hour later was the same,
When I joined a vball game.
We put the other team to shame.
Temple in the day, party in the night.
As the full, bright moon crept into sight:
Time to celebrate poya right.
At bars along the sand,
With everybody drink in hand,
A big party had been planned.
As the beach filled with techno,
And a flashing neon glow,
People flocked to the disco.
Lots of dancing, and raving too,
As people did what they wanted to do;
My famous moves made their debut.
We met some friends and talked a lot,
Then headed out when we were shot,
Before the sun took the moon’s spot.
Filled with energy and zest,
This night was possibly the best.
Now time to get some rest.

Love the poem - way to spice things up.
First day of shopping period today, went okay. Then I went for a jog!!! And yoga tomorrow!!! Remind me to give up exercising…
Also video chatted with mom and dad, twas very fun!
A bunch of new classes to look at tomorrow, should be exciting. Will fill you in with my complete schedule once I have one. Weird to think that you’ll be doing the same thing next year at this time…

Hey Chazbo,
Another fun day of shopping today…then yoga!! It was fun, different then in LA (only 5 people in the class) but definitely a good work out.
Have to keep this one short because I’m waking up at 8 tomorrow to have breakfast with Bob Graham (ex-Senator, ex-Governor of Florida, ran for President in 2004.) I’ll be working with him all semester as his liaison, pretty cool!
Hope all is well, love ya!

(except the dog…) I had dinner with your mom tonight…and Susie Pozzo. My sister was in India last month for 3 weeks!! Sounds like every minute is an adventure! Be safe and make good choices!!
